Foundation Course Flyer v3 (239 KB)
The Foundation Course can be used to develop existing teams, to assist with culture change initiatives, or to further develop individuals’ interpersonal skills. It enables teams to explore topics together, exchange ideas, and benefit from a unified approach to introducing improvements into the workplace.
Most importantly, the course is designed to deliver a fun and lively learning experience that even the most course-averse participant will enjoy.
The course consists of five modules that reinforce and build on each other, with the first module providing participants with skills and perspectives to enhance reflection and learning for the rest of the course. The course allows for evolutionary change at a manageable pace.
During each session, participants engage in a series of purpose-built experiential activities and discussions. Activities keep energy levels high and are designed to be both fun and insightful -allowing the practical application of new skills and knowledge in a safe environment. Discussions dovetail with activities and allow deeper exploration of module topics.
Participants are encouraged to draw on their own considerable pool of experiences and knowledge during discussions, and instructors 'facilitate learning' rather than ‘teach’ the course. Throughout the day, participants discuss ways to apply learnings to the workplace and specific actions for workplace improvement are recorded at the end of the day.
Build self-awareness, awareness of others, and learn to respect and embrace differences. Touch upon team dynamics and explore competition, cooperation and silo mentalities. Become aware of perspectives currently applied in the workplace, and begin moving from "I" to "we".
Explore the building blocks of communication and challenges to communicating effectively with others. Examine the various myths surrounding communication, practice listening skills, and practice communicating in a team environment.
Examine leadership, followership, and the importance of a shared vision. Learn the value of processes and protocols in achieving outcomes as a team. Practice delegating and communicating in a team environment. Explore and practice collaborative problem solving, and coordination of tasks and people on multifaceted projects.
Practice planning and setting goals as a team. Learn about setting the right goals, and drawing on team members’ strengths. Explore how existing perspectives and beliefs impact team performance, and practice new approaches to predict and deal with change.
Examine organisational culture and individual contributions to the existing culture at work. Understand your personal and organisational values. Explore empathy, and practice supportive team behaviours.
Fill in the form and one of our team will be in contact with you as soon as possible.
